Details, situations, qualities, etc., . . .
3 childs (27 year old son, 23 year old daughter, a 6-year-old son); intellectual; spiritual; moral character; socially cheerful (long philosophical talks with friends and family into the wee hours); meditation.
Music, music, music - play guitar, piano (Dylan, Beatles, old folk, blues, pop, and obscure stuff); music always playing at my apartment, everything from Allman Brothers to Zappa (with side trips to Brian Setzer, Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder, and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks). The Pogues and Spocks Beard a couple of eclectic additions.
Movies, movies, movies - wrote screenplays once upon a time (never produced, but had an agent - look for my books at Amazon.com); Star Wars and Lord of the Rings trilogy high on the list, but love the classics (from Arsenic and Old Lace to Gone With The Wind and The Wizard of Oz, with a special place in my heart for John Wayne westerns); One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Princess Bride, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Contact, anything from Pixar . . . this could go on forever.
Books, books, books - Steinbeck, Ayn Rand, Carlos Castaneda, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., some pulp sci-fi stuff, Tolkein, and especially John Irving; A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking is a special favorite. Joanne Harris (really loved Five Quarters of the Orange). Harry Potter is all right too.
Writing - Short stories and four completed novels for sale at Amazon.com. (Ask me about "No One's Ever Sick In Springfield".) For a sampling of MY old stuff, click here.
Art, art, art - USED to be a graphic artist by trade, with CorelDraw and CS2 on my home computer, and a stack of illustrations and caricature art that goes back as far as junior high school. Working on Illustrator/PhotoShop and Dreamweaver/Flash/Actionscript.
In the past: Musician until I was 26, Graphic Artist until 2006 (began dabbling in real estate just when the market when south); now in Sales, getting back into Marketing; high-school drop-out (worked as typist, cleaned up after the elephants in the circus, and stocked cheese at Swiss Colony Wine in Wisconsin); Brief college and trade college in Madison, Wisconsin; married at 30, divorced at 46 - I got the kids. Married again at 49. THAT one went south when I turned 57. I probably shouldn't mess with marriage any more.
Mystic/Objectivist - Somehow I reconcile Ayn Rand with Carlos Castaneda. Ms Rand saved my life by giving me the tools to verify and function in objective reality. Carlos' experiences offer the notion that our individual realities may be subject to interpretation. The supreme balancing act.
All the rest - non-smoker, non-drinker (especially since a new heart condition, atrial fibrilation, requires constant medication); not quite a vegetarian, but close; affectionate; got rid of the pony-tail, just left with a short beard; movies with my daughter; ballgames and jam sessions and concerts with my son; still know how to occasionally throw a mean Tarot (studying Kabbalah, but isn't everyone? A sound doctrine of mystic knowledge). Some people are Disneyland people, and some are Magic Mountain people - I am a Disneyland person. No tolerance for BAD TEMPERS or drunkeness. If you are either one, stay away.
Personal Philosophy: The highest achievement of human consciousness is the ability to navigate infinity.
My downside: Impatience. My (first) ex says I drive too fast. My kids say I talk too much, but I don't think I talk too much, do you think I talk too much? I don't think . . .
What I believe in: Hard work, sleeping late and divine intervention.
What worries me: The fate of mankind, high cholesterol, and democrats.
What makes me laugh: Monty Python, Tom Lehrer, The Simpsons, and democrats.
What makes me cry: The ending of Field of Dreams, my children's graduations, and democrats.
The last word: The glass isn't half full or half empty, it's half drank.
