We gathered quite crowd at the beach on Lake Dalhousie as
no one knew what these strange things were. After the obligatory
Kodak moment we eagerly tried getting into our coracles and paddling
away.
OFF WE GO !
We quickly learned that the sculling stroke in front of the
boat was the best one to get us going forward. If you try to
use a regular paddling stroke you just go round & round in
circles forever.
PAUL'S NEW DESIGN
Although he appreciated the traditional basket design of the
coracle we made together, Paul wanted to design and make a more
modern style.
OLD & NEW
Children wonder at the old basket coracle with the new one
Paul is making, as seen in the background. The molded wet-formed
ribs for the new style coracle are to the left of the picture.
