Your Interests: Do-Well Forges & Joanna Furnace | Comments: Very nice site, Sir! I am a volunteer at the Joanna Furnace site during its fundraising festivals. I am a 4th generation Cider Miller and have the honor of running the mill that was relocated to the furnace site as part of their endeavor to preserve the skills of our foref thers. There will be a book published very soon on the history of Joanna Furnace which was written by Susan Jacobs. I've read excerpts from it and I think that it should have a great appeal to anyone who has an interest in the old boys who shook hands w th Vulcan every day for wages! I also was raised among the ruins of the Do-Well Forges. Our family Cider Mill now sits (for about the last 100 years) within the boundaries of Forge #1. Forge #2 and the Slitting Mill were up the creek a little further. Keep up the good work! |
