The Turncoat

You are such the leader,
such a friend you claim to be
yet you such the turncoat
never opened your eyes to see.

I went to lift my voice,
the greatest joy I knew,
I went to talk to a friend
but all I found was you.

You such the hypocrite,
you never even tried,
such to understand
the reason that I cried.

You such the traitor,
you thought my tears were lies,
as they ran down my face,
I only wanted to hide.

I needed to talk to you,
to tell the world my pain.
I needed someone to tell me
it wasn't all in vain.

But you  such the wise man.
you saw so well to see through me
yet you such the antagonist,
you never failed to patronize my pleas.

I knew I needed to speak my soul,
but my voice deserted me at last,
I knew I needed to find the words
but the time had already passed.

You are such the leader,
such a friend I thought you were,
yet you such the turncoat,
believed the lies you heard.
