Steves FeZ Tribute

"The curious page with the same initials as Supercritical Fluid Technology"

FeZ Just incase you don't know, my nickname is 'FeZ'.

This was originally intended as an insult (not that anyone can remember why),
  but the name has stuck.

    And I like it.

20 Things You Never Knew About The Fez:
  1. The Fez is a traditional middle-eastern headgear first made in the city of Fes, Morocco.
  2. It is a tall, red, brimless cap made from wool or felt with a colored tassel.
  3. The Fez was originally colored only by a dye made from the juice of red berries found in Morocco.
  4. They probably use artificial dyes and coloring now.
  5. It's sometimes called a tarboosh.
  6. The official geometrical name for the shape for a fez is a truncated cone.
  7. It was the official Turkish national headdress until they were made illegal in 1923.
  8. The City of Fes was founded in the year 790 by powerful Sultans and is now the religious center of Morocco.
  9. Akbar and Jeff from the comic strip "Life in Hell" (drawn by Simpson's creator Matt Groening) wear fezzes.
  10. Fez rhymes with Pez, a popular candy dispensing toy invented in Vienna in the late 1920's.
  11. The name Pez comes from the condensed German word for peppermint (the original flavor)
  12. The British comedian Tommy Cooper wore a fez while performing his magic tricks.
  13. He collapsed and died live on TV.
  14. Everyone thought it was part of the comedy but he was really dead.
  15. Fezzes were introduced into India during the 19th Century.
  16. The word fez on a triple word score in Scrabble score a minimum of 45 points.
  17. If there was an Elvis impersonator who wore a fez, a good name would be "El-Fez"
  18. One band who likes to wear fezzes are the 3 Mustaphas 3.
  19. Although the Michael Nyman band wore them on the cover of that live L.P. that just came out and I wouldn't be surprised if David Byrne had some stashed away at home.
  20. Fezzes are cool.
