Love Knowingly, I brought myself to you. Blindly, you accepted. Not aware, of themask I wore Veiling the black, cancerous Carnivore I am within. Ready to devour you from the inside out. I'll strike first at your heart. Weakening and softening it, With thoughts of me and acts of romance. Then my incisors will sink deep! And shred it to pieces Like a starving mongrel after a crawling baby. I'll soak up your pain and tears, Reveling at your pathetic existence. With my crimsom maw dripping, with your blood and "love." I'll pounce upon your brain! But slowly, so I can toy with your wounded self. Driving you slowly mad. Giving you glimpses of hope, Visions of happy times before, When you used to think; of the endless possibilities. Then I will snatch them away. Again and again Sending you plummeting back into hell, Like a bird, shot through the wing. Each fall hurting you more and more. Every wince of pain, Can help me grow. I am Love, the one you so errantly sought. I can make the strong happy. However, I enjoy devouring the meek. --- by Chad Forte, Texas Tech University
