This is just for fun, so don’t sue! AN AMERICAN DENTIST IN LONDON Part 3: Lectures of the Dawn "He what?!" Kitty screamed. "What happened?!" Kitty moved closer to the comm-link and stared at it. "Now, Kitty, ye’ve got to calm yuirself down, girly," I calmed. "I can nae do ya no good if’n ya don’t let me! Now let me speak to Nightcrawler and hush up. Nightcrawler, when will you be here?" "We should arrive within minutes, Moira," Kurt answered. "Okay," Moira planned. "Rahne and Meggan, would ye go and set up for Pete, here? You know what tae do. Kurt, you said he was blasted with a plasma blast. Do ye ken who attacked ye?" "No, Moira, we don’t know," Kurt answered. "We searched all over and could not find the assailant. I have to go, we’re preparing to land. Over and out." "Over and out," Moira repeated, glancing up at Kitty. "Kitty, he’s goin to be just fine, lass. He wasn’t even directly hit by the blast, more grazed by it. Even if he was, he’d probably still be fine. My theory is that it was a gun that was shot, and probably nowhere near as powerful as what you’re imagining, like, say, Havok’s blast. Do nae worry, he’ll probably be up and about by tomorrow! He’ll be hurtin, nae doubt, but….." "Oh, I just can’t help being worried, I guess," Kitty explained. "But you’re right. I’m sure he’ll be fine." Looking up at the computer after assorted bleeps and blips, I realized that Kurt and the rest of them had arrived. "Aye, then, I’ll be on me way!" I ran out of the room to the med lab, concerned to begin on Pete as soon as possible. *** "So, we shall continue as planned," Kurt lectured. "I know we are all tired and it’s been a long night, but this is too good of an opportunity to waste. Besides, there is very little chance of anything actually coming of it. So, we meet back here in an hour. Is that clear?" Assorted nods and mumbled yes’ confirmed Kurt’s question. He turned to face the dawning sun. "So, Kurt, tell me, comrade, what is it that led us to do this?" Peter asked Kurt, putting his hand on Kurt’s shoulder. "Well, one of Pete’s friends informed us that a London branch of the Friend’s of Humanity was forming, and we, of course, have to explore to at least gather information, especially with the hassle the X-Men have received from them and are still receiving," Kurt explained. "But…?" "Danke, I knew I was forgetting something," Kurt remembered. "But, Pete thinks his friend is kind of the loop, so the information is doubtful. We are going to explore an address that was given to us, but like I said before, nothing will probably come of it. Were this an actual mission I would delay it until we could get some more sleep, but as it is, we’ll be fine and home within the hour, probably." "Ah, now it all makes sense," Pete thought. "Kurt?" Meggan walked into the room, calling for him. When she turned and saw him, she smiled. "Kurt, phone call for you on Line 3. Shall I tell her….." "Danke, Meggan," Kurt thanked. "But who is it?" "Um…it’s Amanda Sefton." *** "Where have you been?!" Kurt asked, more than slightly annoyed. "Look, Kurt, I’m sorry. It’s kind of hard to explain. There’s trouble, with mother…..can I see you soon?" Amanda sounded very upset and tired. "Margali?! She’s still alive?!" Kurt shouted. "It’s really hard to explain over the phone. Can I see you sometime soon?" Amanda asked. "Sure, drop by in a couple of hours. Okay?" Kurt was beginning to become really concerned. What mess did Margali get herself in this time? "All right, I’ll see ya then." Amanda, who sounded completely exhausted, abruptly hung up the phone. That’s odd…… *** "You look fine, Meggan, I assure you!" I shouted. "But, I dunno, I’m concerned about looking good for Brian," Meggan pouted. "Meggan, you’re always concerned about looking good for Brian. I think it’s high time you started looking good for yourself," I said. "But, for Brian-" "Meggan!" I yelled. "You know I’m right and we’ve talked about this before. You really need to start dressing for yourself and not for Brian." "You’re right, I…." "I know, Meggan, I know it’s hard for you. But promise me you’ll try, for me?" Glancing up at the shirt she chose for Brian and at the shirt she was wearing that she liked, she tossed the shirt aside. "I like this shirt better." Grinning, she walked to the door and opened it, and I followed her to the hangar. "Does….does Peter do this screaming thing when you, y’know, when you guys…." "Have sex?" Meggan flinched and nodded. "No." I began to giggle. "Why, does Brian?" Meggan began to laugh. "Yes! And it’s so annoying!" Her last comment caused an uproar. We walked into the hangar laughing and received some odd looks from our teammates. We took seats on the plane and sat back. "So I’ll meet you guys at the café at eleven, then, when I’m done with my dentist appointment?" I checked. Meggan nodded. Her leg vibrated while she nervously shook it up and down. I put my hand on it, stopping it. "Meggan, calm down." She grinned nervously. "I can’t help it," Meggan complained. *** "So, how are you today?" he asked me, poking around my mouth. "Im jugh fliegnt finn," I answered him, drool beginning to slip down the side of my mouth. God, I hate the dentists. "That’s nice to hear," he said. "Uh-oh, your gums are bleeding!" That’s cause you’re poking them with a metal object, you twit. "That’s no good." Easy for you to say, I’m the one whose in pain. "Looks like someone has to brush more!" God, someone get me out of here! I don’t know why I came in the first place. I could have just gone to America to visit Beast, but, no, I had to come to this twit with the weird accent. Wait a minute, the only reason this guy has a weird accent its because he’s American! Thrilled at meeting a fellow American, I sat up in the chair. A scream echoed the halls of the dentists office. Immediately and reflexively, I phased through the chair. My dentist lost his balance and fell on the chair I was in, slicing it open with his pick. "What was that?!" I exclaimed, ready to burst into the hallway. "It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m just going to check your teeth now," a man explained from the room I heard the scream coming from. "It was just another patient, Miss Pryde," the dentist answered, annoyed that he had ripped his chair. "Oh," I uttered. Woops. Gonna have to work on that. I walked back over to the chair, ignoring the rip and fuzzy stuff oozing out of the rip. My dentist quickly stood up and walked into the next room. "Look, I’ll be right back!" he said while he walked away. Woops, again. *** "Oh, Brian!" Meggan ran up to him and threw her arms around him. "I missed you so much!" "Not as much as I missed you, I assure you," Brian grinned from side to side. "But at least we are here now." "Oh, Brian!" Meggan exulted. "Come on, let’s go get some of that shoppin done, and you can tell me all about what I missed," Brian suggested. "Actually, we have to go meet Kitty at a café soon," Meggan said. "Wanna go there now?" "Sure," he replied, gallantly offering his arm. She took it and they walked down the street, only receiving some stares. "So, what has happened lately?" Brian inquired. "Well, the boys played soccer and made a whole in the wall, Douglock learned some new swears, we watched a Harrison Ford movie, oh, and Pete got attacked but he’s okay. He was going to come today but he’s staying with Moira instead. He’s just a little bit too hurt. Oh, and Brian?" "Yes, dear?" "Not all men do that screaming thing. Pete doesn’t." "You told Kitty-?!" Brian’s face turned beat red. "I missed you Brian!" Meggan grinned, nuzzling up to his shoulder. *** "Yeah, I got a mutie on my hands," the man said. "I dunno. Her name’s Katherine Pryde. Help ya any? Yeah, she did. Uh-uh. Right smack in the middle of my office, she did. Yep. Okay. I’ll try to gas her or something. I’m sure I’ll be able to. Yep. Okay. Great then. Bye!" The dentist hung up the phone and walked away. *** "Is this the place, Kurt?" Rahne inquired. "Yep, you guys know what to do," Kurt instructed. "Spread out. Douglock, take the back. Peter, go right in the front. I’m taking the ceiling, and Rahne, you go the other way that Douglock goes. Go for it, team!" Kurt teleported out of the plane and onto the building. *** "Is that an American accent I hear?!" Kitty exclaimed, trying to make it up to him for her little accident. Oh, well, at least he hadn’t asked about it. He probably just went and told somebody to fix the chair later, I’m sure he’s fine. "Indeed it is!" he grinned. "And you? I thought you were American, but I wasn’t sure!" "Indeed it is!" I grinned. He seemed to be lightening up. He sighed and picked up a mask and hooked it up to something. "Okay, I’m afraid we found a cavity, so I’m just going to put you under and when you wake up you’ll be fine!" he smiled, almost to happily. "Uh…I’ve never had that done before," I suspected. "Well," he began to look upset. Woops, again. What’s this, the third time? I don’t want to have to find a new dentist, especially one whose American! "Things are different here than in America." "Oh, yes, right! Of course! I’m sorry!" I smiled apologetically. He put the mask on and began to slowly lose consciousness. I couldn’t help wondering why he was putting me under, though. Why would he….. *** Typing away, I typed up Pete’s lab report, sitting next to him. "Almost done, Pete," I commented. "The auto-lab should have you all patched up within moments." "I still think it’s bleedin creepy to have a robot be me doctor," Pete complained. "Too bad," Moira shot back. "I’m busy with other things, and I do nae have such time to do any such thing. Besides, with the technology we have, that robot is as good as a doctor as I, in some ways." Pete still scowled. An alarm was immediately set off. "Someone’s breached the security!" I shouted, running over to check it out on the computer. "Damn right we have," a man commented. Behind him was a veritable army of men, equipped to their teeth and looking more than ready to fight. "Bloody hell!" Pete commented. To be continued in Part 4: Unexpected Visitors, where Pete stands up for Moira….wait a minute, did I type that up right?!
