Row 2: P1, K1, P2
Row 3 and 5: repeat row 1
Row 4 and 6: repeat row 2

Row 8: P3, K1
Row 9 and 11: repeat row 7
Row 10 and 12: repeat row 8

Caste on 124 stitches. Mark beginning of row.
Work in Ribbing (K2P2) for 4 inches
Work in Pattern stitch until hat measures 9 1/2 inches
Bind off by:
Row 1: K2 tog = 62 stitches
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: K2 tog = 31 stitches - switch to double pointed needles as you bind off, arranging stitches on 3 needles

Row 5: K2 tog, then knit remaining stitch = 16 stitches
Row 6: Knit
