Ready to start? Great. As you might have understood, this site
isnt about teaching you how to play guitar like a teacher would
do. The teacher would teach you "how" to play. I'm teaching you
how to play the songs. If you really want to loose your time, go
ahead, take a private class. If on the other hand all you want
is be able to play Nirvana's songs and have fun, read on.
Tabs, chords and reading thoses..
First, one should know that all the tabs I will use have been
found at different places on the web. Some have even been tabed
by me. Now, what is a tab? A tab it a way of writing music. We
are going to use Guitar Tabs. Theses tabs represent the chords
on your guitar and the place where your fingers should be. A lot
of musicians use tabs so dont feel guilty about using theses. They
even put tabs in the magazines like "guitar world". How to read
tabs? First, let's take a tab example:

This is a typical tab. The "E" chord is the big string on your
guitar. Normally the big string is always the one at the bottom
but if your not sure, it's always the one marked with a capital
E. So, the first line represents the first string, the second line
represents the second string....you get the point? Now, the
numbers represent the "boxes" where your fingers should be. You
know, youre supposed to have small seperations under the strings.
Theses are the small boxes. I hope you understand..just email me
if your confused. Anyway, it should all go well.
Now, to help you practice a little and to become a better player,
you need to know how to play tabs. For our first lesson, you will
learn most of the "power chords" used by Nirvana. I found theses
in a big on line tab book and I dont know who should be credited
for this, if you can help me, email me. Here are the tabs:

The letters like "E5 or F5" represents the name of the power chords.
If you have a lot of time to loose, learn the names. If not, just
start by playing them.
There are two ways of playing the Power Chords but I cant teach
you how to do that without a picture or something. Wait a little
and I'll get a digitized picture of how you should place your
fingers.
So, I guess this closes our brief lesson 1.
