Anyone know of a good men's clothing store? |
On the whole, Friday was just another day. Got a little more done on the VB project, helped Carl (conceptually) with the PB project.
I found a graphics tutorial page and realized...I can do this! Which is good because it's part of the webpage redesign project I have this weekend. As part of the project, I'm designing a web page creator program (with templates). It should let me add titles, and body and update the main page and links on the other pages here, without a lot of extensive editing. Now if only I can find a spellchecker to add to it. This project seems to be combining three of my main creative urges: writing, drawing, and programming. The new future journal will add storytelling. I've tend to agree with Bryon over at The Meyhem Project. This is a project . A life project. So far it's been both educational and fun. Thursday night I had pulled up Fractal Design Painter and gotten it to create a Joe's text with the Blue->Pink gradient, but couldn't get it do that and any sort of 3D effect. Using the tutorial, I found, I copied it into paint shop pro, and got a little further. The tutorial had something using Alien Skin's Inner Bevel (from their Black Box product). Of course it looked a lot like what I wanted. I went to their site, and downloaded the demo for EyeCandy (the latest release) and fount it exactly . WooHoo! One caveat, though. I couldn't import it back into PSP. Pretty good way to enforce it's demohood. Went shopping Friday night and Saturday. Looking for Cool Games, pants and a haircut. I'm now to fat to shop at JC Penny's whose waist sizes stop at 44. Men's Warehouse didn't have wool/poly blends {Can you say.."No Ironing?" I knew you could...}, so I wound up at Barry's. Bough two pair, and will pick them up Monday. Got back to the apartment Friday night just in time to meet LadyDawn for our HTML lesson. A mutual friend created her webpages, and they are quite busy, and take along time to load. I'm teaching her HTML, so she can do her own here on GeoCities. I also talked some more to Demeter, and her friend and ex-roomie tanho. We have more in common that I originally thought. I hope I meet them at the picnic. Today I went back out, and actually got the pants and haircut I mentioned earlier. Games were a bust. Nothing new, I guess I shouldn't complain, since I've got games I haven't played yet. I was also looking for good graphics software. I bought Alien Skin's Black Box. Hopefully that will work ( I haven't installed it yet). You should know, if you see graphics on this page;) I was looking for photoshop, among other things, (without realizing it was 900 dollars...). I asked the guy at Babbage's if he had it. He suggested I use a WAREZ copy! I was flabbergasted, this guy sells software for a living! Is he an idiot? Now PS is expensive software, so I won't be using it anytime soon. But I also program for a living, and while I get paid for my time and not for the software, I'm a bit sensitive to the whole thing. Now, one good thing about the WAREZ guys, is that they've forced a lot of companies to provide working demo software. This is great, because I'm with the warez d00dz about try before you buy. I mean, you can test drive a car, and even return it if it doesn't work right (lemon laws) but not software. Not if you broke the shrinkwrap. I'm meeting Dawn again tonight, and working this till I'm done. If you see it then, I'm done. |
