Sorry the reception is bad, I'm adjusting the antenna now |
One of my other purchases yesterday was a TV antenna. The folx at TimeWarner and I agreed that if I wasn't watching enough cable to justify paying for their service, then they'd just come over and take the box. I handed it to them happy in the knowledge that two out of three of the stations I actually watch are broadcast here in Charlotte.
I attached the antenna last night, and was able to get so-so reception on ABC, good reception on FOX (yaay) and UPN (Double Yaay). This means that the few hours of TV I actually like will be visible. Babylon 5, Simpsons, and StarTrek. The only thing I'll be missing is the Cartoon Network("Dexter's Laboratory") and Comedy Central ("The Tick"). So I watched Bab5 tonight. I've been pretty depressed about this show since the sudden and abrupt ending of the Shadow War. I mean, we'd had 6-10 story arc episodes leading up to the war. And it was over in the same episode it started. Talk about denouement. Last weekend when I was with Ginger, I saw it again, after awhile of being away from it. Last week's show was pretty good, even if Sheridan has become a ninny, and Garibaldi's orbit is a bit eccentric. This weeks' was pretty good, if only to watch Londo's character grow, and see JMS start building some new plots. I think I'm beginning to see where he's going with this, but I'm gonna keep my mouth shut 'till I'm more sure. After that was over, more playing with Alien Skin's Black Box (I basically finished this webpage's design), and some time on IRC. LadyDawn never showed. Oh well, that happens. When I got up this morning, I had mail from LadyDawn...so she didn't forget me, that was great! I didn't catch up to her until late tonight though. Today was cleaning day...and I still have way too much work to do before I get any company. I didn't even touch my kitchen or bathroom, although I did get all my laundry done. Well, I need to take my sheets to the laundromat and get them done, but otherwise, I'm good to go on that. I'll probably wind up spending most of my week cleaning, and getting ready. Dad called about 1:30. Mom's in the hospital with an inflamed pancreas. They don't know why, but they've ruled out all the most likely reasons. I gave her a call, but she was pretty out of it. She told me they were going to do a CAT scan next. That's all I know at this point. I'm sure if Dad knew anything he'd call. I just sit here and wait, and hope. I finally installed Heroes of Might and Magic II last night. It reminds me of a really old game called Fantasy Empires, what with the heroes, and artifacts, and strategy-based gaming. Much better, however, and not just in the graphics improvements. I also liked the RPG aspects in a strategy game. It made for a nice change. Of course, I lost the tutorial. I'll try again tonight. After I finished with that, I got back on IRC, and chatted with LadyDawn, and some others, and went to bed. All in all a productive weekend. |
