Thrusday, June 5, 1997 -- An Interesting Day |

"May you live in interesting times" -- Chinese Curse |
I'm thinking about good ways to describe my day.
I got to work late, but Carl was late, too. AFter a little office gossip, I scanned this mornings journals, and uplaoded yesterday's entry. [Barbara] is leaving us. She's moving, and her free account will now be long distance. Farewell Babs, we will miss you. LadyDawn told me she might not make it for her trip hear. She will know tonight, for certain. I expected this, and know that I'll see her and [Barbara] at the picnic. Still, it's a bit disappointing. If she doesn't make it, I'll probably spend the weekend working on one of my open projects. Gary came in and gave us the news today. Gary is the marketing guy responsible for our customer, and is the closest thing to a 'boss' that I have. He told me that the VB project had been approved, and would be done in 5.0. This was a moderate surprise, but not totally unexpected. He told the everyone else that they should plan on going to St.Louis for a month. That will leave me back here by myself, working on a project by myself. It's sink of swim time for GenericJoe. One of those three might be put on another project, and might still be back here working for our customer. After that it was time for Joe to do a little presentation for the PC Sig group where I work. Gary was there, unexpectedly, and I gave a good presentation on using the internet to find answers to programming problems. I'm glad Gary was there, I can't help but feel I need the brownie points. I went home, and discovered the Big Mistake of the Day. I'd meant to call Duke Power allweek and pay my bill, but I forgot. Predictably, my power was out. [Insert picture of Joe banging his head on a concrete wall] I called and paid it and it will get cut on "tonight" sometime. I went shopping. Not to buy anything, but to get out of my electrically-challenged apartment. I do this sort of thing all the time. The last time was cable service about 8 months ago. I need these payments to be automatic. I have enough money, but not the sense to do the daily maintenance. Just like my apartment not being clean because I don't spend a little time on it everyday. It's not that I'm disorganized. I do this journal every day. It's part of my everyday life. Why can't I do this with everything? |
