Thursay Quotes from my life "It must be thursday, I could never handle thursday"--Arthur Dent "What the heck it's Thursday!"--Blair

Welcome to the One Month Aniviersiarry of my Online Journal Pick up your party favour at the door, and gather round. I'm really excited about today. One month is along time for me to consistently do this. Even so this journal almost died over Memorial Day. The fact that it didn't probably means it will be around for awhile. I was getting nostalic tonight, and thinking about how appropriate for me that this happened on a Thursday. I have a specal fondness for Thursdays. As i was lounging in my bath, with the nice salts from Bath and Body Works, I tried to remember when Thursdays started being interesting. It either started with Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams or Bill Cosby. I guess we were like just about everybody then, and watched The Cosby Show every Thursday night. It was a ritual. I think since that time, except for small irregular breaks I've had a ritual activity on Thursdays. Thursdays are special. They aren't Weekend days. No one wants to do things on Mondays, we're all just reeling from working again. Tuesdays are good meeting days, you have Monday to get things together, and actually remember, "Hey we have a meeting tomorrow!" Wednesdays and Thursdays are good days to do things. Ritual things, fun things. I like Thursdays because they are the last weeknight of the week. It can't conflict with typical weekend plans. But at the same time, you are thinking about having fun and relaxing on Thursday. Unless you're Arthur Dent of Hitchiker's fame, Thursdays are good days. Arthur's house was destroyed on a Thursday, just before the Earth was demolished. Arthur just commented, "This must be a Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays." After I went off to school, I stopped watching Cosby. I think it was still on. Seems like it ran forever. I got involved with a Campus Ministry. Well I met Heather, and she got me involved with Wesley-Luther House. I met one of the finest people I know there, Rev. Ron. Wesley-Luther was progressive for a christian church in the south. UNCG's chapter of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Student Organization met there, because they couldn't meet anywhere else, then. It was a good time. The key thing is, our meetings. Thursday night. Of course. After I left college, I sort of drifted away from that community, but I still found something to do on Thursdays. Back to TV again. The Simpsons. My week wasn't complete with out them. I remember MUD coding and stopping to watch the "Inanimate Carbon Rod" episode. I still laugh, thinking about it. My friends from high school started drifting to greensboro, and merging with my new friends. We started gaming again. After much discussion, what night was free for gaming? You guess. The best quote out of that time was Blair's. Faced with a difficult Role-playing decision, in typical Blair fasion, he decided what does it matter, it's a game! So he looks at mey , "Ah what the heck, It's thursday!". This became our watchword, even when we had to move the game to Wednesday night. If things went badly, anyway for the party, Jason would look over at Blair and comment, "I never could get the hang of Thursdays." Jason's a Hitchiker fan. Can you tell? That group gradually broke up as we drifted from one place to another. I eventually came here to Charlotte, and found Thursday gaming once again flourishing under the watchful eyes of Jason and Ginger. I think they picked thrusday because it's the best night for that sort of thing. A fun night, almost a weekend. We are still doing it, but much more sporadically in the last few months. Some thursday event will come to replace it, I'm certain. I just don't know what yet. Needless to say, I've had a stupendous day. I'm flying out to St.Louis next Thursday which won't be quite so stupendous. I confirmed plans for the #bisex picnic. I got alot of work done. I'm really very happy today. And ecstatic that this has lasted a whole month. Tomorrow, we start on a new one. One of many, I hope.
