MEDITATION UPON A PEBBLE
I held the pebble within
my hand
At once - a comfort -
a reassurance
I - holding a pebble
God holding me
A gentle holding - a tender
holding
Yet firm - Yet strong
Enfolding - Caressing
A treasure held within
my heart
As I gazed upon the pebble
I was aware of its timelessness; its steadfastness
I gazed even deeper
There - at the dawn of
Creation was I
Held in Love
Of Love
I felt the warmth emanating
from the depth
Permeating - Radiating
A glow - A longing
Creation ongoing - never
still - always moving
The Radiating warmth touched
something deep within my being
I am a part of timelessness
I am a part of ongoing
Creation
My thoughts - my words
- my deeds
One tiny part of the whole
As I continued to gaze
I was drawn into the pebble
Becoming a part of it
It - a part of me
In the Silence I heard
it speak:-
`I am the Eternal Now
I am all Joy
I am all Love
God`s Love shines forth
from me
His steadfastness imprinted
within me
His compassion - His mercy
writ upon me`
I see within that pebble
the Beauty of God
The Beauty of all Creation
Yet I see the harshness
- the suffering - the pain
Erosion - Weariness
I become oned with the
pebble
We become inseparable
The same atoms formed
us
The same thought fashioned
us
I become oned with it
Oned with all
I - part of it
It - a part of me
I share in all it holds
I share in all it speaks
`I am of Thee
and Thou of Me`
The pebble, for me, became
a prayer
As I hold it within my
hand
So I hold all things
As I hold it within my
heart
So I offer all unto God
All Createdness - All
uncreatedness
All the lovely - the unlovely
All darkness - all light
All suffering - all happiness
All pain - all healing
The pebble is a symbol
of Hope
As I hold the pebble
So I hold God
So God holds me
