Greetings and Salutations

I have somehow gotten the thought into my head that if you are here, I must entertain you.
My apologies in advance

This is all here for the simple reason of entertaining you, my beloved visitor. If perhaps, your eyes are opened to something new, then this is a good thing, but please, don't close your eyes to any of these artists due to what you may read here, for these are but bits of the whole. If you need more info on any of the quotes in here, em me at daviscam@vic.com.

Pulp Fiction

My current reads

"The Shining", Stephen King: Still a classic re-read. It's scary, disturbing & a page turner.

Someone is to Blame

Waxing lyrical

I'll try out putting these in alphabetical order by the artist I know them by, then the quote, then the title of the song, then the author. If it gets too strange, I reserve the danged right to change that format whenever I feel like it.

On Friday I took a city
Cursed it with a plague,
Powdered crystals, smoking pipes

any town any day
the seperation's real and i find that it's based on nothing
passed from father to son
mothers to their girls

that i don't understand

The teachers laughed with them
class idiot style,
After all they weren't their kids
so why should they mind.
Boyish good looks held the wrath
back a while,
Then they were
drummed in and thumped in and
soon left behind.
Alcoholics, child molesters, nervous wrecks and primma donnas
Jilted lovers, office clerks, petty thieves
hard drug pursuers.
Lonely tramps, awkward misfits, oh any one of these.
Mortgaged up families looked at first
too mundane...

It's so hard to picture dirty tramps

But if you see a man crying,
Hold his hand,
He's my friend.

These feet of clay

If I'm not blind,
Why can't I see

Can't be filled with the things I do.

Sunflower Sutra

...How many flies buzzed round you innocent of your grime, while you cursed the heavens of the railroad and your flower soul?
Poor dead flower? when did you forget you were a flower? when did you look at your skin and decide you were an impotent dirty old locomotive? the ghost of a locomotive? the specter and shade of a once powerful mad American locomotive?
You were never no locomotive, Sunflower, you were a Sunflower!
And you Locomotive, you are a locomotive, forget me not!
So I grabbed up the skeleton thick sunflower and stuck it at my side like a scepter, and deliver my sermon to my soul, and Jack's soul too, and anyone who'll listen...

Phrases

When the world has been reduced to a single gloomy wood for our four astonished eyes, - to one beach for two faithful children, - to one musical house for our pure harmony, - I shall find you.
Let there be here on earth only a single old man, calm and beautiful, surrounded by an "unheard-of luxury," - and I am at your knees.
Let me have realized all your recollections, - let me be the girl who knows how to tie you up, - I shall choke you...

...And lastly, I offer you this gem:

E. E. Bradford

The Tree of Knowledge

...The lusty lad, more lightly dressed
Rolled up his sleeves and bared his chest,
A sister served: the boy returned.
A ball came bounding back and burned,
As if red hot, her dainty cheek.
She cried and reaved. Ray did not speak,
But let the girls, like angry bees,
Swarm round and sting them at their ease;
And when they all had said their say,
He simply bowed, and strolled away.

Before you think me insane for that last one let me tell you where it came from: A book called "Very Bad Poetry". Truly a horrendous collection. If you ever see it around, poke through it.

Something About Them

Robin Williams

"Tonight Show: 9.28.98"

On reincarnation:
"Life's a bitch and then you die and then you die and then you die"

Before this section continues, I offer the following quote and my own, personal rebuttal:

"I don't want to be labeled as 80's bashing, but it
was all fucking crap back then, wasn't it? People
out there are a lot more passionate about music now. You
can't get passionate about Howard fucking Jones, can you?"

---Paul Weller as quoted in the Dec. '97 edition of "Vox"

Ahem, yes Paul, some people were quite passionate about their music in the 80's. While I am a total fan of Mr. Weller's work, from the Jam right on up to "Wild Wood" (his last two albums were kinda lame, funny enough), maybe Mr. Weller should remember that passion goes beyond "trendiness", and Howard Jones has been steadily crafting albums since 1981. Thank you for your opinions, but Howard is still God, while you are merely talented.

And now back to my regularly schedualed silliness

Betty White

Entertainment Weekly: Did you catch a cold from spending so much time in the water?
Betty White: No, the water was kind of lukewarm- which
worried me a little with that many people in it

EW: You're an outspoken animal lover.
Would you rather have a sweater from the original
sheep or the cloned Dolly?
BW: When you're built like I am,
you probably need a sweater from each.

If you just haven't had enough of me yet, then get your butt back to Grand Mental Station.
