Damn. There's that Howard guy.
Oh?
Hasn't he been hitting on you?
I guess he doesn't like me. Don't you like men?
I get so tired of trying to keep them happy. I suppose they have their
uses. But don't trust them.
I once knew.....
It was after I killed my parents, and me and Elaine lived with an aunt
and uncle.
Our high school frosh-soph basketball team, with me, had won the district
championship, across town, where the rich kids lived. After the game, me,
Anna, and Meg were kicking around the parking lot until the senior's game
started. That's when Jimmy drove up.
Anna was real sweet. She was only fourteen, but already a heartbreaker.
Jimmy got out of his Dad's Ferrari and zeroed in on her. Meg and me hung
around, waiting. But Anna waved us away. We clucked in envy. She was going
on a ride with him.
Jimmy promised to bring her back by the end of the game. We didn't
see her until after school the next day. She was very quiet. She missed
alotta classes.
Jimmy had taken her to a little party. Just her, him, and a few of
his buddies. They held her down. Over and over again, all night long. His
Dad bought her off, paid for her abortion. We found out all this later,
at the funeral.
Anna hanged herself in the gym.
I'm sorry.
Why?
For the Annas.
She was stupid.
Like you?
just seeking peace she sets aside
their crafted gifts which crowd and chide
like stags astrutting stiff they stand
demand she pledge her mystic hand
but jealous cocks enjoy to battle
and treat their own like triffled chattel
why buy a wife when blood will win
a whore to join their hateful kin
