HUMAN FAMILY Seeing in you Something complex, something new; Sensing in you Something mysterious, something different; Feeling in you Someone sincere, someone sensitive. Knowing the door is open Only partway by night, But ever-widening bright, So I may see a view Of you In vivid daylight, Nothing held back, Nothing denied. Seeing in you The total scope, I cherish hope And share in our Unique differences, While honoring our Unique Oneness: The bond of all mankind. Individuals, yes... But flesh, blood and body Of the human family.LIMITS You have built a fence, Barricaded yourself behind The solid wall of resistance That you call your limits. You have chosen a position From which to launch Your firm, relentless opinion That you are narrowly confined. It's true you have handicaps From a deprived childhood; It's true you can hide Behind those formidable obstacles. But there are no limits That exist anywhere outside Your mind, and you know it Somewhere deep down inside. You can build higher barriers Between you and freedom; You can erect tall towers And relinquish your power. But there will always be These tangled, twisted webs Of walls, fences and barriers You must repeatedly construct, When it would be so simple To realize there are no limits In your human potential.
TURNING TO STONE Turn, turn, turn When once you lose the burn To love, to live, to give... Turning to stone Cold, cold, cold Like a winter tomb. Round, round, round You spin into a freeze, Deep, deep, deep down You go as the icy doom Grasps you in a frigid hold. Turn, turn, turn As you run, run, run Trying not to love, Nor to yearn for the burn Of living, loving or giving. The gaping frozen jaws Are the steel bars and walls Trapping you in your self-imposed Prison dark, unable to speak Of the heart's dying flame As you turn slowly to stone.
FRIENDSHIP Life becomes warm and sweet When two friends meet -- Like the everlasting stars Beyond our mortal grasp, A true, enduring friendship Is the joy of an endless universe Between two who forever share Their lives & hearts.
HUMAN CONFLICT Tiny butterfly, flitting From flower to flower, Freely sampling fragrances... If only I could be like you: Beyond the human dilemma Of confusion & mental strife... Always blindly obeying nature's design, Not confined to conflicts of human mind.
FREE High in the windy treetops Leaves sway to and fro, And my eyes gaze upward To the windswept motion, Compelling inner reflection That tosses, turns, lifts & sways Into the blue oblivion of sky, Outlining a bright horizon Within my mind... Leaves in the breeze, My thoughts too are free.
