I write under the name of Cara Swann. In the past I've greatly enjoyed creative writing -- novels, short stories, poetry. I still write fiction, but have been focusing on non-fiction/articles/essays for the past couple of years. I hope always to make some of my work available for readers on the web, and will post new material when possible. Several of my novels have been previously published, but when the publisher went out of business I decided to distribute those freely online for readers.
My freelance articles have been published in Byline, Fate, Women's Circle and Woman's Day magazines; online at Suite101.com, articles on the topic of "Childfree By Choice," and other print and online publications. I also was employed at a local, daily newspaper as copy-reader and occasional reporter/columnist.
I'm a life-long resident of the southeastern United States. Many of my fictional stories reflect this environment; it is a regional influence that seems to lay claim to my work.
My interests/likes are: avid reading (fiction and non-fiction); computers; HTML design; simple living, minimalist lifestyle; surfing the web; social/friendship email; history; book collecting; antiques; animals and pets (particularly cats); feeding/watching wild birds; nature and wilderness areas; exercising/biking for fitness; preserving the environment; protecting wildlife; music (classical and popular); art; good movies, especially mysteries/suspense; interesting, stimulating conversation; daydreaming; solitude for reflection/thinking at times; doing research at the library and/or on the Net; unsolved mysteries; amateur astronomy, and rainy afternoons curled up with a good novel.
Thanks for stopping by, and visit again -- you're always welcome!
