Remembering Xanadu

Today I heard an old song
On the radio, Olivia singing
Like an angel divine
About a fantasy place
Called Xanadu, a paradise
For two lovers, passion
Like explosive fireworks
Unbridled, where they'd hold
And love each other
As if in a neverland
Where no two mortals
Should ever even aspire
To live, just a sweet dream,
But how she'd made it real
How the dream had come true
       In Xanadu.

I've been there once
Long ago, though no one
Wanted to admit it existed:
A stroll beneath moonlight,
Kisses tender, passion kindled,
We made it real for a time
Living in a dreamland of desire
Long ago, tenderness and rare
Gentleness beyond compare.

Do you remember when mystical
Midnight turned into magic reality?
How life glowed like silver moonlight
And we knew there'd never be another
To compare, just us living & loving
In our own private Xanadu.

Do you remember?
(You know who you are.)
