About Scathach
Scathach (pronounced SCAH-yah'k) is the Scottish and Irish goddess of warriors. She taught the best men of the Celtic tribes, including the great Cuchulain, and was generally thought of as the protectress of the Celtic peoples. Her name means "shadowed one," and in addition to her formidible prowess as a fighter, she was a skilled magician. I, on the other hand, am something of a dreamer and a wimp, and it's comforting to have borrowed the name of such a powerful lady. Perhaps she watches over this site, protecting it from evil computer viruses and spam!
My name is Stephanie Drinkard, and I run this site. I'm a redheaded Scottish girl with a flair for the dramatic and a rather silly imagination. I like poetry well enough, but what I really like is words, and poetry is a neat place to find all sorts of those. I have high hopes for this place once I move in all the way and get settled. Who knows -- maybe this will one day be the greatest on-line poetry library in the world. Whaddya think? Doable? But GeoCities will have to give me a little more space first! The picture of me is about two years old (I have short hair and contact lenses now, and I'm not that fat! It's a big sweater, that's all.), but I still wear the boots, even though they have holes in them! And I still like to climb trees.
So have a good time here.
Peace, and blessed be.
