Word Virus is one of the more interesting Burroughs Sites on the Internet. Features great selections from the Adding Machine, With William Burroughs, and the Job with accompanying visual design.
ZNET is one of the most valuable net-sources for news and opinion from non-corporate sources. If you have any questions about how a nice boy from Lawrenceville would end up in Berkeley, check this out.
Alternative Tentacles has been one of my favorite record companies for years. And they finally have a website up which lives up to their name. Nobody remembers, but they were the first record company to release records by the Butthole Surfers, Husker Du, the Crucifucks, and now are using that leverage to release spoken word recordings by Mumia Abu Jamal and Noam Chomsky.
List Foundation is a superb Bay Area contact site used exclusively by cool people. I got several job offers from job listings posted here, and know several people who have found apartments and jobs in this location.
The official Mondo 2000 site is located at www.mondo2000.com For a long time they were the only source for intelligent interviews with some of the most interesting folks in the world (Hans Morvac, John Perry Barlow, Michael Synergy, etc. ).I do wish they'd continue to dedicate space to the visionaries who appeared in the early issues, rather than the stupid rock stars (Perry Farell, American Music Club, etc.) that they1ve been wasting print on lately.
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter is a fun and enlightening personality test. I've taken it twice, and both times I was evaluated as an ENFP. I highly recommend this site for further personal exploration.
Sound Photosynthesis is a company which records and sells audio and video recordings of lectures given by cultural explorers and scientists. I've been doing some freelace work for them. Among the more well known individuals featured in their catalog are Richard Feynman, Terence McKenna, Robert Anton Wilson, and John Lilly. Someday their extensive archive will be our only source of information on several of the cultural heros of our time.
Timothy Leary's House is an excellent web experience. Leary was a fun, intelligent explorer, (with an exceptional bunch of world-changing pals) and I'm sorry that he didn't go for the cryonic suspension option. I was recently given a 6 tape set of a course that he taught with Robert Dilts on NLP and designing intelligence and intelligent systems, which is remarkable, though a tad outdated.
Someone maintains a very cool Unofficial Robert Anton Wilson Homepage. Wilson has written a good 10 plus books on various topics ranging from psychology, to futurism, to fiction. Wilson himself comes across as funny, intelligent, irreverent, and a terribly under-appreciated.
Survival Research Labs is a remarkable group of Mad Max machinists posing as performance artists. These folks build machines just to enjoy the thrill of making them fight.
Though I consider myself an agnostic on most matters, I enjoy the information presented on this website, and have contributed to it's listings in the past. Journey to the Celebraty Athiest and Agnostics Site. fight.
