February 14, 1999 (3:55 pm) | skating woes me

If you were me late last night you would have been watching 13-year old Naomi Nari Nam work it at the U.S. skating championships. She was like this tiny capsule of dy-no-mite! It was the strength of 400 sumo wrestlers and the glowing smile of a "The Price is Right" winner that enchanted everyone that watched her performance.

Honestly. Usually my jaw doesn't drop unless some skater falls on his/her/their ass (which always makes me feel embarassed in some odd way. Yea, like I'm the one who fell on my ass!) but the way Naomi flipped and twirled her way all over the rink was glorious! You should have seen it. I'm not saying no more.

There's just something about skating that makes me want to go outside and make a snowman. Just watching it for 30 minutes inspires in me some glimmer of hope and some optimism for the future. Like, I can do this! I can do anything!! I am Naomi Nari Nam damnit! Her parents are Korean and my parents are Korean! so there.

I may be launching something called the "Pumpkin Eater" in a month of maybe in a few weeks. And also I will be leaving Tuesday night and unfortunately, coming back Sunday night. I'm having fun. Bye... because I'm going to go have some fun now. heh.
