This is a tribute to the great folk artist known as Cold Fact
Rodrigues . My affecttion for Cold Fact was started through a myth of who
he is and what he is that can be seen in the last tribute page that I put
up . Please feel free to read what I wrote before I know the whole fact
about Cold Fact . It is amusing and shows what a phenomenon this man has
become .

here . In case you are too lazy to go there , I will give you a rundown
: Cold Fact Rodriguez was just a myth in my life of music . I had a tape
of a tape that had that name on it but I did not know who he was and what
. All I knew was that I loved the music . I tried in vain to search for
an original copy of the album but to no avail . For years I searched for
Cold Fact . Finally I gave up and decided to create a website dedication
along with some of the lyrics that I had transcribed . You can check out
the lyrics that I transcribed here .

Anyways , one day I got an e-mail from
a one Deon Steyn who rocked my
world with the news of Cold Facts existence in this world . He was not
a myth any longer . Deon was so kind as to provid for me the adress for
the two most important web-sites in Cold Fact fandom .
Stephen "Sugar" Segerman's

This site was the first contact that I had with real Cold Fact
material.
Sugar keeps the world of Cold Fact fans well informed and updated.
Brian Currin's ever
growing monster of a site.
If you enjoy Brian's site as much as I do then you have to keep
reloading it every chance you got because he updates it faster then you
can read it.
Both Brian and Sugar were very good to this ignorant fan .
What I found out is that Mr. Sixto "Cold Fact" Rodriguez is
no more dead then I am and that he is still vibrant as ever living in Detroit
, Michigan, USA. Just a five hour drive away from me . It turns out that
during the 70's, Cold Fact was very popular in South Africa , New
Zealand , Australia and even Zimbabwe . No clue as to why those four countries
.
It also turns out that at some point this past year (97-98)
a group of South African friends hired a music detective to find the enigmatic
Cold Fact . The rumours about Cold Fact where great and many up until that
point. Some claimed that he commited suicide on stage after quoting from
one of his songs . Others claimed that Cold Fact was in jail .
Actually, he was in Detroit ... which can be seen as jail .....
hehehehe.
After finding the man , Sugar and Co. helped arrange for the
man to tour South Africa , which he did , to great acclaim, during March
1998 .
The reaction was great and amazing considering that the man
was thought to be dead a few months beforehand.
No. Cold Fact is not dead. He even has a very happy and healthy
family
.
And there are even rumours that he is going to release a new
album , something that he has not done since the early eighties.
But in the meantime one can order all the available Cold Fact

I definitely reccomend the "Cold
Fact" CD . It is the one that I have on tape and seems to me to be
timeless and perfect for a western market that is adament about finding
the next "cool" retro-something-or-other.
Cold Fact delights you with his forms of blues , soul
and vibe . Sweet guitars mix with a horn section and topped off with Rodriguez's
sweet-sweet voice .
But don't take my word for it (even though my voice is the word
of god !) go check out those two sites I mentioned above and check out
the wav. files those boys have set up . Better yet, go but a copy and see
for yourself .
Or even , if you live in South Africa, go buy me a copy .......
Pity me , I only have a worn down tape of a tape of a tape of
a tape.
"....and that's a concrete Cold Fact !"
On a personal note .........
Mr. Rodriguez , if you see this humble
tribute and you are ever in Toronto and interested, I would be honored
to set up a gig for you . From what I hear from my South African counterparts,
a Cold Fact performance is one that is one to be treasured .
