The Serinity Series | Ordering Information | The Artist

Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, is the historic town of Lexington and the surrounding area of Rockbridge County. Here, Maxine Foster captures the colors, tones, and hues of the varied landscape for clients who specifically commission her works.

In 1996, in response to demand for more of her works, she produced the Serenity Series, consisting of 5 fine art watercolor prints, with a limited edition of only 500 each. Depicted below, the Serenity Series watercolor prints are now available individually, or as a collection. Signed and numbered by the artist, each print will be delivered unframed, but mounted to a foam board to prevent damage during shipment.

The Artist

Maxine Foster This watercolor artist has been celebrating that medium of expression for 45 years, absorbing every book and exhibit available to her in her effort to make each of her own paintings better than all the previous. But it is a love affair, love of the possibilities of the transparent array of growing colors, also love of the mountains, streams, ponds, old barns, and houses of Rockbridge County, VA and more especially, the way the light falls on to these landscapes that fuels her drive.

Maxine Foster works primarily on commission, because her rendering of the portraits of places people love are always recognizable, if romanticized and enhanced in line and color by her experienced and sentient hands. But, while working steadily at this segment, she and her professor husband have a date every lovely evening to drive to a nearby location, by the Maury river, or looking up to the Allegheny and Blue Ridge ranges that surround the area, to catch and record the long shadows and the golden last light transforming all it touches.
