WHAT I MEAN BY "BENEVOLENT" AMORALISM

I care for the wellbeing of others, yet I am an amoralist.

All this really means is that I recognize no moral obligation to care for others, yet I simply WANT to care for others.

The common misconception is that an amoralist is an amoralist precisely because she or he lacks care for others. Many amoralists may indeed fit this pattern since amoralism does not specify any position on caring for others. I am convinced that there is no necessary corelation between moralism/amoralism and benevolence/hostility. Within either moralism or amoralism, benevolence is optional. As an amoralist, I simply opt for it.
