META-ETHICS

Meta-Ethics is the study of the meanings of ethical terms, such as "Good", "Evil", "Sick", "Should", "Ought" and so on.

Ethics, by contrast, studies which things may be considered good, evil, sick; which actions we should and ought to do.

Example:

Ethics will tell us whether it is good or bad to love our neighbor.

Meta-Ethics will tell us what it means to say something is good or bad in the first place.
