More About Me

Well.. hmm My name is Amanda Jeanette Drum... I live in a small town, population of 467, according to the 1990 census.. but anyway... I was born July 9th, 1976 to my parents, David Wayne and Susan Jeanette Monroe Drum. I have two older sisters from my dad's previous marriage Michelle Ann Drum Sweet, August 15, 1967; and Qutina Renee Drum Knopp, June 22,1969. I also have a little brother Joshua Thomas Fletcher Drum, December 11, 1982. Both of my sisters are married.. Michelle, or Shelly, has two boys, Derrick and Dylan, and Tina has one boy, Tyler...I have no children as of yet. Not sure that I want any... But my two best friends, Hope and Regan, are the parents of my three beautiful godchildren.. Kenneth James Kurtz and Tyler Beck Kurtz, born July 8,1993 and October 9,1996, are the sons of Hope. Tristin Danielle Huffman, born May 15, 1997, is the daughter of Regan. Hope is almost due with her third child. I hope that it is a girl!

Now to tell you about my life.. I was born, then I went to Webb A. Murray Elementary School in until the 2nd grade. Then I went to Oxford Elementary and then on to Catawba Middle School and Bunker Hill High School, from where I graduated in 1994.. I then went to Western Piedmont Community College for two years and then I went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for a year.. I am currently taking a year off from school to get my life in order. I plan to attend UNCC again next fall and persue a degree in Computer Science, or was that Political Science or English.. Hmm not too sure anymore.. change my mind all the time! But I do know that whatever degree I achieve, that I want to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation At the moment I am taking a correspondence course from NRI Schools, Computer Programming. It is really nice not having to worry about taking time to go to class because the class is waiting for me when I have time to study.

Well I knew that I couldn't work for the Olive Garden forever.. but it seemed like it. okay okay I worked there 9 months, guess I have to update my resume again.. I now work for Manpower. Great benefits, you can job hop from assignment to assignment and not have all the W-2's to fill out next year... This year I had 6 of the lovely things.. For Manpower, I work at a local fabric company, called Hanes Converting.. It is owned by Leggett and Platt, based in Germany but I work in Product Management and I do all kinds of paperwork that I only know how to do and don't know why I am doing it.. but it is a really great place so far.. But I don't know when I will be going back to school now. oh well maybe sometime. hmmm UPDATE I am now trying to get on permanent with the company, so I am planning to return to UNCC in the Spring of 1999! I really can't wait. I guess I am just tired of not knowing what to do in my life.. I really need a sign from somewhere as to what to do. Any suggestions?

Oh well, now it is time to tell you even more about myself, if you have already gotten through that part.. Hmmm, well I started Elementary in 1980 and then in the third grade I changed schools cause my mother didn't want to take me out of the school district everyday.. I really didn't like the idea of going to a new school, in fact, I hated it.. well I did okay.. Well during my 6th grade year, my grades slipped terribly, and it was decided to send me to a summer program called "Project Tunraround". It was for trouble-makers or students who needed a hand with motivation (raising hand) So I went and had a blast during the summer.. My grades really improved when I returned to school.. I was voted "Best All-Around Student" by the faculty and staff of Catawba Middle School my 8th grade year...

Then to be in high school! I thought it was the best place on Earth.. I was active in so many things! My fresman year, I was in Junior Rotary (InterAct Club), SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving), Drama, Woodmen Rangers.. My sophomore year I had many things happen, or so I think they did, almost had a nervous breakdown, almost failed the 10th grade.. but I was in the InterAct Club, SADD, French, and can't remember what else. My Junior year was great. I was in the French, Traffic Safety, Debate, Forensics, Drama, and I got an award for having the top grade in a required class, out of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, Healthful Living, yeah go ahead and laugh at that one, I kinda did! And My SENIOR year.. hmm President of the Traffic Safety Club, Vice-President of the Debate Team, writer for the school newspaper, French Club, cast member of the Twelve Angry Jurors ( guess you can't figure that adaptation), Office Assistant, and all around BRAT! I graduated on June 8,1994..

Ah, on to Western Piedmont Community College! I still love that place.. The college is about a 40 minute drive from my house, and when I started I hated the drive, especially when my car decided to go on the fritz, but I was very active there as well.. During my orientation, I was the only person to ever get 60 signuatures in 45 minutes! What was I doing, you may ask, running to be a Senator in the Student Government Association. I really didn't like being a Senator all that much.. During my first year, the Literary Arts Club was formed, and I a charter member, read at several different school functions, much to the chagrin of our President, oh well!!! I was also a member of the Social Sciences Club, which also formed my freshman year.. My sopomore year, I was still a member of all my clubs and I was a cast member of "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe". Yup you guessed it, a theatrical production of Fried Green Tomatoes.. It was wonderful, a real tear jerker, we all cried the last day. But the fun had to come to an end at some time, so I transfered down to

UNCC! Ah, don't have time to go into all that, so check back next week, maybe I will have it up by then!

Well update time, I was hired as a permanent employee of Hanes Conveting Company and started September 28,1998. I was the Traffic Accounts/Payable Clerk. As of August 28, 1999, I accepted a new job with Hanes Fabrics as a Woven Support Clerk. I started this job on October 26 and I love it. I plan to stay at this position for a while, hopefully. I still want to work in other areas so I will be able to move up in the company.

And why oh why, I must be totally crazy, but I returned to the Olive Garden in January on a part-time basis, weekends mostly! I had to quit the first of May 1999 when Kevin and I moved in together. They told me I could have a light schedule while I was moving, but they changed it at the last minute, so screw them!

Back in March, I became an Independnet Tupperware Consultant. If you would like some Tupperware, let me know and I will send you a catalog, ha ha.

I know I should through this in... On my 18th b-day (July 9,1994) I met this great guy named Kevin Micheal Stewart, Jr. and we started dating from there after. He asked me to marry him on Oct 12, 1995. I said yes, and we are still not married, why not? Well I have college to finish, and we have to find a house. He is a great guy and I feel lucky to have him. We should be getting our pictures taken soon, so I should have them up soon! Well, on July 17th of 1999, we were married. We had decided six weeks before to do it, but some people kept looking at my tummy for the answer. No, I wasn't pregnant. Don't know if I ever will have a child. More on that later!
