We would
first like to thank our good friend Shane for allowing us to join
him in his web site.
He is a wonderful friend!
We will attempt to share with you something of our life here in
Hawaii, and to offer anyone interested the oppertunity to come
and stay here at our home (at no charge), while we are away
traveling.
We are new to this medium, so please don't be to critical of our
meager attempt at web page design. Cut us some slack, okay?
Here is a picture of me, taken quite recently. I am 87 years old, a vegitarian, and since we live by the ocean I swim everyday and am quite fit as you can see. I am a retired circus entertainer, my specialty being the animal trainer and I also performed with the lions and tigers. I have wonderful memories of those days with the Arnold Brinkmeyer Circus Extraviganza! You may remember having seen one of our shows perhaps! We performed extensively throughout Asia and the midwestern states of America, Guam and of course Hawaii!.
I met my wife Marta when she joined the circus in 1948. We have been together ever since. I'll never forget the first day I saw her, she was the tight rope walker, and one of my tigers had gotten loose and went on a little rampage in the big top where she was practicing, no one was seriously injured but after I pulled Binky off of Marta, and looked into those terrified blue eyes, I knew she was the one for me! I will always remember the morning I asked Marta to become my wife, we were in Iceland for a performance, and it was so cold my tigers were suffering from frost bite on their little paws! Marta stayed up with me all through the night soaking their frostbitten paws in hot water. You should have seen her, stoking the fire and breaking off those great ckunks of ice and throwing them into this huge pot we had found! I thought, "What A Woman!". In the morning, as the sun rose over the frozen land, we stood in the first rays of light and I popped the big question! The rest, they say is history! Oh, if you were wondering how the tigers did, they were a bit sore but made it through the night (with Marta's help of course) and performed splendidly the following day...although they couldn't jump through the hoop very well...kind of limped through it as I remember.
Well, enough about me, I could ramble on for days with all the memories I have stored in my little head. I think Marta wants to type something now...wait, yes, she does..."hello". That was Marta, she is a very shy person, and well to be quite honest, she wasn't very good at tight rope walking, and had a few bad falls on her head, well, more than a few but they did lower her wire and that helped greatly! Unfortunately though, she would also "slip" alot, and although we cannot have any children ourselves, we adopted 2 wonderful kids Klaus and Libby, who have grown up to be remarkable adults! And here they are! ...
Are they not remarkable! I am so very proud of these two, as any father could be. Klaus is 40 yrs old, and at present looking for a job, but he is capable of doing many things, and is never wanting for cash. Although, he does have some friends that leave much to be desired, and I strongly feel that because of his large heart, and kindness to these so called friends that this has gotten him a somewhat shady, unfounded reputation! As the police seem to think that he has been involved with the many robberies and other criminal activities in our neighborhood and surrounding areas. We are constantly having to dispute these ridiculous alegations in court, luckly Klaus has an excelent lawyer for such things!
Now, Libby who is 34, is also a wonderful person too! She has many, many friends who call at all hours of the day and night! She is constantly in demand as a friend to these men who lavish her with attention, gifts and money! I am always amazed to see her with some new "toy", or piece of jewelery, or new dress...although, I must be honest and say that some of the evening apparel she enjoys wearing I do not approve of, yet I respect her choices and although they tend to be on the reavealing side, sometimes very, I do not interfere with her choices. She is a big girl.
Even though they are not of my loins, I love them both very much!
I must applogize that I do not have a picture of Marta available for displaying on our page. As I mentioned, she is very shy, and would not allow me to place one here. Possibly at a future date.
