More Than Just A Coffee House...
The members of the East River Folk Society are a varied lot,
with myriad outside interests and
activities. The Society has lent its resources to a number of charitable
organizations. Performances featuring Folk Society
members are held to raise money for or provide entertainment to these selected
groups.
A few examples:
- A March 1997 for the Trenton Theater resulted in a donation of over
$2200 from the Society to the theater operating fund.
- Folk Society members performed for visitors to the Monroe Animal Shelter
during the latter's "Adopt-A-Pet" weekend in 1996.
- A visit to a local nursing home helped bring smiles to the faces of many
of its residents.
- A benefit show helped raise money for a shelter for battered women.
- We raised $250 for the Wyandotte Animal Goup by staging a November '97 benefit.
If you have a situation which you think could be enriched by having some of our
musicians perform, please call Leigh Rowland to discuss the possibilities.
