The Glory Of War
The empty eye-ball sockets of bodies rotting in the mud
The hacked corpses laying at the side of the road
The empty minds of those who have seen death and suffering
The burnt faces of loved ones, now crippled and destroyed
The maimed bodies of children, lost in the glory of war!
The unborn child bayoneted in its mothers womb
The young girls raped and be-headed
The young men tortured and murdered
The village razed to the ground
Oh, the glory of it all, the glory of war!
The woman who is passed from hero to hero
Until she is nothing but an empty shell
A puppet to be screwed, used and abused
Another conquest of the hero
Oh the glory of it all, the glory of war!
The man who stands at the edge of the crater
Looking at his family now just tattered limbs
Holds the bloody red rag that was once his daughter
His tears mixing with the blood
And the urine that flows down his leg
Oh the glory of it all, the glory of war!
His tears of anger and frustration
Her tears of anguish and shame
Their tears of incomprehension
Or are these tears at the joy of liberation?
The glory of it all, the glory of war!
See how the tanks roll majestically forward
Squashing all in their path
See the severed limbs poking from the earth
See the once green fields and pastures
Now just churned mud and shallow graves
Oh the glory of it all, the glory of war!
In the name of liberation, they shoot you
In the name of freedom, they murder you
In the name of salvation, they rape you
In the name of god, they destroy all
See the glory of it all, the glory of war!
See the hero swell with pride
As they pin a medal on his chest
See the man bury the tattered remains of his family
See the woman slide the knife into her wrist
The glory of it all! the glory of war!
There is no right or wrong,
No sides, no left or right,
Nothing can justify the pain and the suffering,
The death and destruction that is the reality of war!
The glory of it all?
