Janet Hackett's Picture Janet Hackett is an active performer and voice teacher, based in Albany, Oregon. 2001-2002 performances include the role of Leila in The Pearl Fishers by Bizet, with Portland Opera Outreach and Education Program, Opera in the Park with Portland Opera, the role of Geraldine in A Hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber at the Bel Canto Northwest Vocal Festival and Institute, Portland State University, Handel's Messiah and Elijah by Mendelssohn, with the Bravo! Vancouver chorus and orchestra, The Pearl Fishers with Portland Opera Chorus, Verdi's Requiem with Portland Opera Chorus and the Portland Symphony, It Might as Well Be Spring -An Evening with Janet Hackett - a review of Gershwin, Porter, etc. at the Flinn Theater, Albany. Theater work includes the role of Angel in Who Sqealed on the Blind Pig, Mrs. Gore/Minnie in Don't Drink the Ginger Ale, and Lottie/Bessie Arnold in Under the Garden Gate, all at Flinn's Living History Theater in Albany, Oregon.

Past performances include numerous solo appearances in the Chicago area, and ensemble work with several Chicago-area choral groups and opera companies. Ms. Hackett was a regularly featured soloist with the Chamber Singers of the Cathedral of the Holy Name and the Fleur de Lys Chorale in Chicago. Ms. Hackett's work has been featured on a compact disc entitled Music of Consolation with the Chamber Singers of Cathedral of the Holy Name (private release, 1998). She has worked with Bowen Park Opera, The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company of Hyde Park, The Savoy-Aires, Opera San Benedetto, and the Eastman Opera Theater.

Ms. Hackett is on the voice faculty of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, and has taught voice at Wheaton College and College of Du Page. She is a past member of the Musician's Club of Women of Chicago and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University School of Music and a Master of Music from Eastman School of Music. Ms. Hackett currently studies voice with Ellen Faull. Other teachers and coaches include Rita Shane, Kathleen Kaun, Barbara Pearson, John Norris, Christopher Mattaliano, Tito Capobianco, and Richard Bower.
