Loincloths, also known as pakamas, are part of the Thai traditional way of life. Used mostly, but not exclusively by men, pakamas serve as a skirt, a handkershief, a towel or simply to cover one's head from the blazing sun rays. These beautiful cloths can also serve decorative purposes as throws or table cloths. They are woven by the villagers from Ban Nongthoom, Tambon Nachumseang, Amphur Poowiang, Khon Kaen.
The pakamas are woven with naturally dyed cotton thread. Some are later further embellished with an embroidered border composed of traditional Isaan patterns (see below).
