They Ain't Trade Paperbacks...but Maybe They Should Be

Yes, kids,~says the Bookwyrm~ now it's your chance to make your own, customized Trade Paperback's (kind of the literary equivalent of a Mr. Potato Head) regardless of whether Marvel or DC has sanctioned it or not.

Trade Paperbacks collect story lines between a single cover that might be hard to track down otherwise. But what gets collected and what doesn't can often be decided by things that have little to do with the quality of the work. Sometimes great stories are ignored because that's all they are, a great story (some comic shop owners have realized this and often package lesser-known storylines as a set). There might be nothing significant mythos-wise that demands some stories be repackaged for the collector: no origin is revised, no character is introduced.

The irony, then, is that frankly lesser stories can get prestiges re-packaging, while other works that just might, I say might, be the sort of things that demonstrate the literary and artistic maturity of the medium, are ignored.

So here is my little selection of storylines that I think might make nice little TPB collections. If you felt so inclined, you might even write to Marvel or DC and suggest they consider packaging these, but for now, think of this as a kind of make-believe list of just some of the possible Trade Paperback's that never were...but should be
