Untitled Number 1

Like rock and roll, beat will never die
Like the blues, beat will never change
standing on the corner in little five
waiting for the north avenue train
walking across the Kroger parking lot
drum comfortably between my legs
hands slapping the head jacking off a rhythm
that sets female hips into motion
drawing stares and laughter from the scared
the scary the unknown faces
who seek comfort in front of the television
multidimensional advertisements for flat lives
I am too quiet to call myself beat
the words catch in my throat and come out muffled unintelligible
the brain chatters constantly thoughts waiting to jump to the page
they will not be denied today.
