Individual members are in affiliation with Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc

Our Goal

Our goal  has been and continues to be in giving support to local writers. We meet on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Ardmore Public Library, located at Grand & E. NW. Ardmore, Oklahoma.

The meetings are open and we encourage all who are interested to attend. Meetings consist of a read around where each person reads what they have written on an assigned topic. (so bring anything that you wish to read) Members take turns choosing the topic and form is optional. The assignment may be written as a poem, song lyrics, or short story in any Genre. We encourage all forms of writing.

The next meeting will be November 10th See you there.

Remember... to be a writer, you must write!

Guild History

Started in the 70's as the Writers' Club, the group met first at the Ardmore Library and then at Sally King's and Liz Smith's. Very informal in the beginning days, the authors brought copies of what they'd written for everyone to read and share. Liz Smith remarked, "We really tried to help each other with our writing".  In the 80's, the group organized, forming a constitution and by-laws. For the past 10 years, the guild has been affiliated with the Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc. and the Oklahoma Arts and Humanities Council.
