Then, Morpheus! Envelop my faculties fast,
Shed o'er me your languor begin;
Should the dream o to-night but resemble the last,
what rapture celectial is mine!
They tell us that slumber, the sister of death,
Mortality's emblem is given,
To fate how I long to resign my frail breath,
If this be a foretasts of Heaven!
Ah! Frowm now, sweet Lasy, unbend your soft brow,
Nor deem me too happy in this;
If I sin in my dream, I atone for it now,
Thus doom'd, but to gase upon bliss.
Though in visions, sweet Lady, perhaps you may smile,
Oh! think not my penance deficient!
When dreams of your presence my slumbers beguils
To awake, will be torture sufficient.
Lord Byron
From Hours of Idleness (1807)
G.G.B. to E.P.
Have you ever been in Byron's place..? I have...
Have you ever been able to relate to where he's coming from..? I have...
Have you ever loved someone who didn't love you back..? I have...
Do you know what it feel's like..? I do...
I'm sure that every one of you know what he's talking about... I don't think there's a person alive who's never felt for someone and not had thoes feelings returned. It happens to the best of us.
What I don't understand though, is why peple have to be cruel about it. Why do they? I have no idea.
What is it about the way the human mind thinks that makes it believe that it can use and abuse another human, and that they're always going to let theirself get used? I mean... Every animal does it. The dolphen has tendancy to attempt to kill off it's young so that the mother won't be preoccupied with the protection of thr young during mating season. Think about that for a minute... dolphens kill for sex... Isn't that just an amazing concept..? To know that Humans aren't the only creatures on this planet who kill for sex..? But... If you look at it that way... You don't see human's performing tricks in order to get fish thrown at them. You don't see us giving birth to young'ens who can naturally take care of them selves either do you..? Yet we have the same killer instincts. We're living organisims, and hince forth we have the desire to continue living, no matter what happens.
"Well, what about thoes of us who commit suicide?" you may be wondering. Well, yes, humans are the only creature who intentionally kills themself, that I can think of at least (If you know of another please e-mail it to me), but then again, we're the only one's who build huge metal cadges that we voluntarily get into to in order to go somewhere. For that matter, we're the only one's who know what metal is! We're the only ones who bust our backs for these little green thingies which are worth much more than it coast to make them. We study! We reason! We Analyze! We laugh! We dance! We flirt! We don't eat our prey raw, nor do alot of us kill the majority of it. I mean... Humans are just so confusing... And to think... People actually sit around and try to figure us out... Goes to show you what they know...
To wake up knowing they're jsut dreams is tourture enough.
