A big, heavy duty magic lantern. As seen bellow, used gas as light source. for 41/2" slides. Those kind of lanterns were used in theatres, class-rooms etc. The strong light source for big-illuminated shows. The STEREOPTICON:  More then one magic lantern was used in order to do effects like dissolve, animations and so on.
