ROCK POWER
Fall 2000 - Spring 2001 Archive
NEWS - PLAYLISTS
News: 5.7.01 - A very stressed Dan Schneider joined a very frustrated Liz Schroeter for this final show of the semester. Finals week and a radio studio that's falling apart at the seams will do that to you.
Becky seems to be missing after a trip down to Memphis to some kind of hippie gathering. Here's hoping she's not in a VW van somewhere in Colorado by now.
Be sure to tune in next fall for more Rock Power! Thanks for listening.
4.30.01 - One show left! Last chance before the long WMUR-free summer to check out Rock Power. I love WMUR and I love Rock Power, but OH MAN I cannot wait to be hundreds of miles away from here. NYC here I come.
4.23.01 - Where were we last week? We were celebrating Easter Monday. No school! The only reason I (Liz) didn't show up for the show was I was out celebrating my roommate Carrie's 21st birthday with big fishbowl drinks at the Safe House.
Speaking of birthdays, ask Becky how she ended up in handcuffs at the end of her recent 21st.
The MU Radio "Dark Side of Marquette" event on 4/20 went really well. Made some cash and spread the word about MU Radio. Almost got shut down at the last minute for illicit drug references in our choice of event date. And if I never see the Wizard Of Oz or hear Pink Floyd ever again it will be too soon.
4.9.01 - No Becky tonight, but there were occasional visits from Colleen a.k.a. FCC, DJ of Pirate Radio (Tue. 11pm-1am) Played requests and dedications for listeners Patty and Chris.
3.26.01 - Tonight Becky and I looked back on how music was the soundtrack to our past. We played songs that reminded us of good times, boys, breakups, summer vacations, and favorite times.
Last Thursday Guided By Voices and Creeper Lagoon came to town. I got to meet both bands and hang out back stage before and after the show, courtesy of Tom at TVT records. GBV knows how to party, and Ian from Creeper Lagoon and I are getting married.3.19.01 - Dan Schneider filled in for Becky tonight. It's interesting to note that with Dan's short punk songs in exchange for Becky's hippie jams, we fit more songs than usual on the show! But that's not to slam the hippie jams. I had to be on my toes with the engineering tonight. Dan wants everyone to listen to his new favorite band Tiger Army.
3.12.01 - After the show, Becky and her roommate Kelly and I went to kareoke night at Kazooz. Oh man that was fun. Some drinks, some Deee-Lite, some REM, some Christina Aguillera (I swear I did NOT know the words).
Saw Propagandhi, Camden, and the Benjamins over Spring Break. And believe me, did I get a hell of a tan staying here in the midwest. Oh yeah. Be jealous.
2.19.01 - Carrot Top was an unexpectedly good time for Valentines Day. I was joined by Gip and Sean who DJ the show Windowsil that follows Rock Power at 11-1am. We got an antenna at my apartment so MTV2 comes in nice and clear now. Lots of requests tonight: The New Pornographers and Phish for Ryan, Vast for Jack, and Joseph Arthur for Colleen. Becky and I are excited about the new Crooked Fingers cd. See him at the Globe March 29th with Azure Ray and everyone's favorie Atomic Records employee Mark Waldoch.
2.5.01 - Our new favorite thing is MTV2! Holy crap it's so good, and it's free. We don't have cable or an antenna, but we get MTV2. Live Coldplay concerts! At the Drive-In and Doves and A and Badly Drawn Boy videos. Wowie. Got requests from Christopher for Sleater-Kinney and from Colleen (FCC) for Coldplay. And Uncle Don liked the David Gray. Gip--who has the show after ours--is getting me in to see Carrot Top on Valentines Day!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!
1.29.01 - First Day Back. Becky is limping and I am 20 minutes late, locked out of my apartment and the radio station. Milwaukee is a sheet of ice. Get requests from Bo for our theme song (see above) and from Dave in Winnepeg for Nelly Furtado.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURT!
