Arezzo

Piazza Grande is home to the annual jousting tournament, as well as being a central location in the movie Life is Beautiful.

A cool tower and palace in Arezzo with swallow-tail merlons.

This arcade sits in the courtyard of a small convent on the edge of town.

This small crane/tank intrigued me, so I took its picture.

San Sepolcro

I'm not exactly sure why the road rally that was coming through town had medieval attendants, but it did make for interesting pictures.

I really just wanted a picture of the car. I have no clue how those attractive young women got in the picture.

Assisi

The Basilica of San Francesco from below

Being in Assisi on Saint Francis's feast day makes for a good deal of pomp. The mayors of several hundred comuni were walking towards the church for mass.

Like many of the hill towns we visited, Assisi has ancient origins.

La Rocca Maggiore, the bigger of Assisi's two castles, was quite high above the town, but afforded excellent views.

Bevagna

The medieval papermill we visited had a medieval home set up as well.

The stone wheel is used for grinding. A stick is inserted into the side hole to turn the top piece. The product comes out the rectangular spout.

The Bevagna museum had children's reproductions next to almost all of its paintings. I particularly enjoyed Saint Sebastian.
