Good ole Steve, showing us how to get to Italy, from just outside the gates of Cortona.

My roommates and I ate quite a few delicious meals together. The boar sausage stew was amazing even if it confused the Italians who watched us make it.

Thanks to Weese and her friend Pat, quite a few people learned how to knit while in Italy. Fiorella and the other housekeeping staff got quite a kick out of the concept of a male knitting.

Unfortunately Megan didn't pay for all of us when we went out to celebrate her birthday. We had a darn good time anyway.

Katya's performance piece in the Albergo painting studio was a joy to witness.

Talent Show

Aretha (Ashley) stole the show with her vivacious dancing.

Unfortunately for Jason and Steve, any dropped juggling object immediately began hurtling down the hill.

The only thing more impressive than Ynette's fashion designs were the exotic runway models.

Amy made an excellent capo, while Katya sang harmony to Sarah's virtuosic masterpieces.

The Cortonese Crossbow Tournament

Before the competition began, a troupe of flag throwers performed to drum cadence. Some of the stunts were pretty amazing including some incredibly high throws.

This was the standard setup. Each participant adjusted the stand to the proper height, took his(or in one case, her) stance, and aimed while a friend placed the bolt in the bow.

The targets were set up about sixty feet away.

One part of the competition had all the contestants fire upon the same target with two bolts each. The sole female arbelist would have scored an absolute bull's eye, but there were so many other bolts in the way that the tip of her bolt was held about one quarter inch from the surface of the target.
