The Val di Chiana sat below the city and always providing amazing views, except when it was raining.
L'eremo delle Celle is a Fransiscan monastery founded in 1211 as the first monastery that Saint Francis built for his order rather than taking over the administration of an existing monastery. It is about three miles walk from the city in a peaceful ravine.
