This is the first of the X titles that comes out of "Legion Quest" and it is very disturbing. (But not in a bad way.) This is a whole new X-men in a whole new dimension. First off the past was drastically changed by Xavier's son Legion. (If you don't know the story, pick up Legion Quest at your local comic book store.) In this reality, Magneto leads the Astonishing X-men with fellow members Quicksilver, Iceman, Morph, Storm, Sunfire, Blink, Banshee, Nightcrawler, Rogue and...Sabretooth?! They are all fighting the good fight against Apocalypse who rules all of eastern America and Canada. The Astonishing X-men, as they are called, are planning a strike against one of Apocalypse's culling plants. (That's a plant for killing to you and me.) This is a four part book and alot has to be explained before picking this series up. For the explanation, pick up and read X-men Alpha. The art work from Joe Madureira is excellent and there is a totally different feel to this read. I really love the idea of Magneto and Sabretooth as good guys. There is a refreshing sense in this book and it is a shame it only came along in 4 issues.
