So I ask my husband to put our 6 week old baby in the crib and help me out and wash the dishes. "Sure Honey" he says. AS YOU CAN SEE, THIS IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!! Mommy still sounds strange to me, like it does not pertain to me somehow. I have this squrimy, smelly,grunting, being that breathes and eats, AND i have my baby. He is this beautiful little creature that i spy on amost every waking moment. I sleep from pure exhaustion, but never a restful sleep. There's the aching, leaking breasts that have to be emptied lest they dry up. Then there's the random howl from an otherwise sleeping baby. Then there's the actual crying in the night to wee hours of the morning my husband never seems to hear, yet alone react in a meaningful way. He LOVES having the baby in the bed, but falls asleep in less than 30 seconds. Then he proceeds to SNORE!!! So, no sleep, because when i wake to turn him, or check on the baby, it's time for me to do...something. I should mention that my husband occasionally sits with the baby( literally) and waits for me to wake up to make lunch, and then dinner. But, my husband DOES change diapers. So all is not lost.
