A Little Background
In his paintings Paul Rogers creates dramatic expressions of light and texture. The paintings are a combination of brush painted areas complimented by the airbrush.
In his unusual technique Rogers uses the airbrush with a free and intimate touch
creating fine lines and delicately modeled forms.
Underneath the high-lighting and haloing of images lies an exquisite
layering and blending of complimentary color that gives each canvas a lush
iridescence and depth. The final
result is a look that is soft, lyrical and luminous.
Rogers was born in West Hartford, Connecticut in 1954. He received his Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree from Pratt
Institute in 1976.
Rogers studied Japanese Sumi-e painting at the Koho School of Art in New
York City with Musako Yamamoto in 1975. The
discipline and concentration Rogers learned here is evident in his mastery of
form and graceful use of line.
During 1975-76 Rogers also explored color theory and the effect of light
on color when he studied stained glass with master Carol
Savid.
From age 20 on Rogers has shown and sold extensively in Connecticut
and the New York City vicinity. Since
1981 he has been in numerous group shows nationally.

In 1979 the Coca-Cola Corporation acquired numerous paintings for its corporate collection. Rogers’ paintings have been featured in several publications, including “Architectural Digest” and “Interior Design Magazine.”
