Okay, I don't make any bones about it. I love Fuel. However, with a closer look, I can justify my love for them pretty easily.
They are OLD SCHOOL!
Brett Scallions is the renaissance of the strutting, tall, slender blond frontman. the peacock. The man who commands the audience. The wild, screaming demon boy. He's masculine, he's feminine, he's just a rock star and you better listen. Have we seen this in years? No. if there has ever been a second coming of Robert Plant, Brett is he.
Furthermore, you also have a renaissance of the old school kick ass guitar player in Carl Bell. Mysterious. Yes, you have this waving, screaming, ball of energy next to him, but he's in his own world, wrestling with his instrument as if it were some wild animal. In sunglasses, dressed in black, thin villianesque goatee, and that look of pure concentration and intensity on his lips. You just can't keep your eyes off this man on the left side of the stage who is seemingly orchestrating every move of the singer, controlling everyone, even perhaps you as you watch their show
And on an unrelated note, take a look at their video for Innocent. (the one with the copy machine...yeah, I thought you remembered that one) Yes, Brett is wearing a Van Halen t-shirt. But take a closer look at the jeans Carl is wearing and you'll see they are EXTREMELY similar to the ones Eddie Van Halen wore in the video for "Panama"? Accident? You decide.
Just a thought. take care, lovelies.
