JinJu, Korea - August 18, 2002
We are beginning the last and final week. The previously finished 3rd week was a bit more difficult than the first two. Everything has now become very familiar including the routine and just about everything. The kids are developing their patterns and habits and there was that feeling that there was no end in sight. But overall it wasn't too bad. We were suppose to have a Field Trip this week but it was cancelled because of the rain. Its been raining now for nearly two weeks straight. From what I heard, there has been some disasterious flooding in these parts of Korea over the last two weeks as well.
This weekend I once again stayed in JinJu and went to a disco among other places with some of my fellow teachers. I also met alot of the expats. Kind of strange here in JinJu as most of the expats seem very young and inexperienced. Up in Seoul, most of them have signed contract after contract after contract with large amounts of travel time imbetween each one. Here in JinJu, people are more on their first contract or extending a second one. It also feels to be a very close community, as when they met a few of us other teachers, they were extremely eager to invite and include us and get to know us. Almost like they were craving something. On the other hand, maybe they were just extremely extremely friendly!
One more week left to go!
