Kunming, China - September 27, 2002
I'm back in Kunming! The place really grows on you. Its very relaxing and peaceful here. The climate is nearly perfect, and the people are extremely relaxing, peaceful, and don't want anyting from you. I guess I am comparing them to Vietnam which is quite a stressful place to be a foreigner. I'm basically soaking up the peace and quiet before I head back to Vietnam where its always noisy, chaotic, and everyone who knows any English is trying to get you into something, or trying to get you to buy something, or just kind of being annoying to you in general because they so desparately want your money. Anyhow, I get to relax in peaceful, calm, small-but-wants-to-go-international city of Kunming, China.
An interesting thing about being back though.. is that the film is still being filmed!! They asked me last night if I would like to be one of 20 extras for more fighting scenes. I told them 'yes', but when morning came I decided it would be a 'no'.. mainly because I am quite content with my Priest scene from before, so to be one of many in the background of a battle scene, just probably won't be nearly as rewarding. But it is interesting that they are still filming and signing up extras. Someone else told me that they have been grabbing extras from the hostel for the last couple months. This is "Camellia Hotel" if anyone is traveling in this region and wants to get a little extra acting work.. they pay you 180 Yuan for a day's work as well.. which isn't bad since a dorm bed in Camellia is 30 Yuan..
Well, I'll be relaxing here and then soon its back to Vietnam.. as one of my fellow travelers in the hostel says 'the land of the crazy people'..
