Seoul, Korea - October 27, 2005
Okay, I'm in Seoul and my girlfriend from Las Vegas is now here. Long-distance turned everyday.. its an adjustment. Still in the beginning fine-tuning processes. But its a big part of whats going on these days in my life anyhow. To help each other out, I enrolled us both into a Korean language program in Jongno last month. This way we have a common goal of something we're doing, and something in which I can help her do as well. The Korean classes are quite fun. I'm realizing that there is a lot of Korean I already know which I never ever use. Well, I know the meaning of words anyhow, when it comes to making complex sentences, Korean still baffles me at times. Anyhow.. its one part of whats going on..
In regards to my job in general. I am still loving it.. and hope to continue to work here until the forseeable future.
In regards to my living situation. Have I yet discussed it? I am not too sure. Anyhow, I am renting a 3-bedroom apartment since I arrived here. Its on the fourth floor of a building with a bit of a view of the tops of other buildings at least. I can also see my university from here. This is also definetely one of the best apartments I've lived in a for a long long time! Most times in Seoul, I've lived in either studios or 1-bedrooms. Most of the times back in the States, I've lived in a bedroom within a 4-bedroom apartment with roommates all over the place. So having a 3-bedroom apartment ALL to myself for quite some time - and now with my girlfriend is VERY nice to say the least. Now that she's here, it seems to be much better organized, cleaned, and even has plants and a Beta Fish in its bowl scattered around here and there. Very nice indeed. In addition to that, my girlfriend is a great cook, so I couldn't be happier than all of that!
In regards to other things - well, I am still working on that damn thesis paper! I am up to 95 pages now (well-achieved the minumum requirements) and I've been working on a lot of serious editing and readjusting everything. Hope to finally wrap this up and get it completely finished for good within the very near future!
Regarding other plans. Well, my girlfriend bought her ticket to the Philippines leaving in about 5 weeks from now. I'll be following suit after my current semester ends. Will be nice to take this 'travel journal' out of Seoul for awhile and into the Philippines! I tend to write a lot more when I'm elsewhere!
As to any funny nuances regarding Korea and Seoul life. Well.. ahmm.. kimchee kimchee kimchee.. how about that kimchee?
