Bacolod, Philippines - March 14, 2008
In Bacolod we stayed at the Hotel Filipino Casino which had great rates for a high quality hotel (around $25/night). It was right in the Goldenfield Entertainment Complex, so we were able to see live music at night as well. We were also here about two years ago, and I specifically remember seeing live music and this hotel before, so I wanted to repeat the experience one more time.
On our way to Bacolod, we landed in northern Negros Island and went through Silay again (once termed the Paris of Asia) probably for it's wealth in surgarcane, although there is no appearance whatsoever of being anything like Paris. I did notice that all of this part of Negros Island does look VERY agricultural and flat and dusty at times, and just full of sugarcane production everywhere. I guess I am seeing it much differently this time as the mountains and canyons of Mindanao and the beaches of Cebu, really stand out in a sharp contrast to this more agricultural-oriented farming-oriented sugercane-producing part of the Philippines.
The next day we will be going to Iloilo.
