The following map is the remaining populated land of the corrupt and dying Kingdom of OurWorld. It is only a portion of what it once was, when the Kingdom spanned almost the entire planet. Those lands which are outside of the map are deadlands. However, deadlands are not desert as you may think, merely the vast areas of the planet sucked dry of its lifegiving magick. The elemental magick which all luktai rely on so heavily and have forgotten how to live without. Click on a name for more information.

Land Names (white)Aikan-ya - "I kahn ehyah" - "Ai" means "people" (as in the luktai as a whole), "kan" means "soil", the suffix "ya" means it is holy or sacred. This means that the approximate translation of Aikan-ya means "sacred soil of the people". This area has the best soil ever found in OurWorld for farming, produces the most food, and is said to be one of the only healthy places left in OurWorld. Because of this, the three major cities in Aikan-ya are some of the most populated places left in OurWorld. There is a large population of peasants, farmers, street entertainers, low-class artisans, and traders in the area. Four rivers flow through Aikan-ya: Iinkkaa, Ukkaa, Aakkaa, and Lkkaa. Also, three major cities form a protective triangle around the fertile region: Lhuuke, Thuuke, and Nhuutke.
Ilenk-ya - "ill ehn kuh ehyah" - Ilenk-ya is an ancient crater-shaped gourge, surrounded by mountains and filled with the oldest trees in OurWorld. "Il" means "of the," and enk means "blood". It is considered sacred land, hence the "ya" suffix. The translation of Ilenk-ya means "of the blood, sacred", or, "land of the sacred blood." The people are somewhat isolated, and are mostly comprised of traders, artisans, and priests. The largest temple of OurWorld is located in its single major city, Ilhenke.
Kusa Lee - "koo zsa lay A" - "Kusa" (the singular form would be "kus", so "kusa" implies there are many) are luktai who are drawn to the sea or water itself, they are considered by some to be a subspecies of luktai who have a higher than normal (though still very rare) population of luktai that can shift to a third form. "Lee" is the luktai word for "island." So the approximate translation of Kusa Lee is "Kusa island". There is a high population of traders and fishermen/women on the island. Luktai who come from here are considered very robust and strong, many soldiers come from Kusa Lee. The climate of Kusa Lee is considered harsh by most everyone's standards, since they do not prevent seasons from changing or storms from churning the sea. The only major city on Kusa Lee is Kuska.
Raakrein - "rah ah-kuh ray in" - "Raak" means "high mountains", "rein" means there are many. So the translation is "many high mountains" (creative, eh?). Raakrein is the largest mountain range in the last living part of the kingdom of OurWorld (the area of the map). The mountains are very inhospitable, and there are no major cities. The luktai who live here are mysterious and rarely seen. There are few traders who venture to the area, and the people who live there are very unsociable. This is where many exiled luktai are sent, exiled because they have no magickal ability, they are called gruta.
Rakaan - "rah kah ahn" - "Rak" is "mountains" and "kaan" is a creature which lives there. The word does not have a double "k" because it is not akin to a river ("kkaa"). Translated, Rakaan means "mountains of the kaan." Kaan are flying creatures who are said to have descended from dragons, they are much more rare than dragons and are nocturnal creatures whose scales make them blend with shadows perfectly. There is a large presence of luktai who worship the kaan. There is only one major city in the area: Kaanka.
Rakkuunrein - "rahk koo oon ray in" - "Rak" is mountains, "kuun" means "royalty" or "nobility" and "rein" indicates there are many. So the translation of Rakkuunrein is "mountains of the royalty and nobility." Rakkuunrein contains the highest mountain in the remaining healthy part of our world, where the royal palace Kuura is perched in Kuunreinka. Rakkuunrein contains the highest amount of soldiers, nobility, and royalty, and is home to many traders, artisans, prostitutes, courtesans, and warriors. The rivers of Kaankkaa, Aikkaa, and Kuunkkaa run down from the high mountain lake of Rakkuunrein. The cities of Kuunreinka, Ekanka, and Tluka are the most populus of Rakkuunrein. Lukreinka is considered a border town of Rakkuunrein.
Aakkaa - "ah ah kuh kah ah" - "quick river"
Aikkaa - "I kuh kah ah" - "people's river," trade route between Kuunreinka, Ekanka, and Tluka
Iinkkaa - "een kuh kah ah" - "slow river"
Kaankkaa - "kah ahn kuh kah ah" - "kaan river," trade route between Kaanka, Ekanka, and Tluka
Kuunkkaa - "koo oon kuh kah ah" - "royal river," the river reserved for the Royalty and Nobility of Kuunreinka and Ekanka
Lkkaa - "luh kuh kah ah" - "courage river"
Luukkaa - "loo ooh kuh kah ah" - "courage nobility river," or, more simply "proud river," Luukkaa splits into the Iinkkaa, Aakkaa, Ukkaa, and Lkkaa. It is a very fast, dangerous river which only very experienced boatsman, traders, and people of the Raakrein dare to challenge
Ukkaa - "ooh kuh kah ah" - "strong river"
Ekanka - "E kahn kah" - "guardian city" - Ekanka is the nearest city to Kuunreinka, and resides next to the enormous mountain spring that creates the Aikkaa, Kuunkkaa, and Kaankkaa. Since Kuunreinka is situated at the top of Rakkuunrein, the royal city's main line of defense comes from Ekanka, which is situated at the only accessible side of the mountain. Ekanka is the training ground of OurWorld's military and elite groups. Ekan is the name of the fighting force responsible for the protection of OurWorld. Luktai with High elemental magick are all sent here once they are of age to train. Not all that are sent here join the ekan, some are drafted into personal bodyguards for the high class traders which congregate here. Some of the most talented trainees are sent to entertain, work for, or guard the kuun (royalty) themselves. Ekanka is the closest that traders may get to Kuunreinka, and only the wealthiest, most powerful, unique, or talented are noticed. Most of the common luktai traders, unless very ambitious, don't even try to make a living here. While most of the Noble houses are in Kuunreinka, the three of the lowest Noble houses are located in Ekanka, and are notorious for their feuding and bickering. Many traders and trainees of the ekan are picked up by these three Noble houses. Also, because of the ekan, there are a large amount of prostitutes and courtesans. Many of these are female ekan trainees who have dropped out, and luktai who have been thrown out of the three Noble houses in Ekanka.
Ilhenke - "eel hayn kaye" - "sacred/temple city of the flesh" - Ilhenke is the city of the largest and most important huunke (dragon temple) in Our World. Ilhenke is nearly inaccessible because of being nestled in the crater of Ilenk-ya, surrounded on all sides by mountains and lush forests. It is considered the major center of luktai worship and religion and is usually accessed by magickal means. The ancient temple was built first, and all other building spran up after, so the entire city is in a very strict nine-pointed star design, which is the symbol of the huun. Many artisans and healers venture here, but there is not a large presence of ekan or major trade. Ilhenke is nearly entirely self-sufficient, thanks to the large numbers of Low magick users who work as farmers in the fields around the inner wall of the city.
Kaanka - "kah ahn kah" - "city of the kaan" - Kaanka is a temple city for the luktai who, instead of worshipping dragons, worship the kaan. The kaan of which the city is named after live in the surrounding mountain range of Rakaan, and have only been seen by those who worship them. The city's center temple, unlike the dragon temples, is arranged in a five-pointed star shape. The city follows the same arrangement. Much of the jewel and jewelry trade is from supplies which come from Rakaan. This makes Kaanka a center for artisans, traders, and marketers. Ekan have amassed here in recent years because rumor has reached Anyashy-a of rebellion brewing in the city. Also, Anyashy-a has very little control over the priests and priestesses who worship the kaan.
Kuska - "koozs kah" - "city of the kus" - Kuska is the only major city on Kusa Lee, and is unique from any other city of OurWorld. While other cities of OurWorld are very circular, following some type of star-shape, Kuska is nearly rectangular. The sea is very important to those who live on Kusa Lee, and since the climate is not controlled by magick (as is the farm-based mainlands), it is very difficult to grow or raise crops on the island. Fishermen, sailors, and traders are vital to the survival of the luktai who live in Kuska and on Kusa Lee. Because of the rough climate the people have become very well-adapted and are considered some of the strongest luktai of OurWorld. Many ekan come from Kuska, yet not many huun. There are no major temples in Kuska, and the local population thinks of dragons only as legends. There is a very large and long marketplace, as well as the largest port in OurWorld. Kuska and Kusa Lee is the home to many kus, a sub-group of luktai who have a higher than normal occurence of third-forms. Kus third-forms are rarely anything other than a sea-mammal much like Earth's seals. Luktai with Water magick are often born here or drawn to Kuska, almost all of those who live here have some kind of Water magick.
Kuunreinka - "koo oon ray in kah" - "city of many royalty" - Kuunreinka is the Royal City of OurWorld, where the highest of all the hierarchies reside. Five Noble houses and the Royal House of OurWorld stand on the highest mountain of OurWorld, Rakkuunrein. In ancient times Kuunreinka was a meeting place for all luktai no matter what power, but times have changed drastically. Kuura, the Royal Palace of OurWorld is now only inhabited by mute Royal Servants, the Royal Council, and Anyashy-a, the self-proclaimed leader of OurWorld. The five Noble houses are always feuding among themselves, and those who have need to be punished are either sent to serve Anyashy-a, or sent to the three lower Noble Houses in Ekanka. Once a colorful city with graceful architecture and constant celebration, it is now dark and stony, unkempt. The streets are roamed by powerful ekan to keep commoners out of the city, yet never to enforce laws on the Noble houses unless Anyashy-a herself addresses them to. Kuunreinka is now continuously shrouded by grey fog, except for the highest battlements of Kuura.
Lhuuke - "luh hoo oo kaye" - "courage priest/ess sacred/temple city"
Lukreinka - "loo kuh ray in kah" - "city of hero/leader courage"
Nhuutke - "nhoo oot kaye" - "waiting priest/ess sacred/temple city"
Thuuke - "thoo ooh kaye" - "old/ancient hero/leader sacred/temple city"
Tluka - "tlooh kah" - "old/ancient hero/leader city"
